If you know someone who loves coffee – really loves coffee – and particularly appreciates the taste of fine quality coffee, then the Gene Cafe home coffee roaster will make a wonderful gift. The Gene roaster allows you to roast beans fresh at home. Most people have never enjoyed freshly roasted coffee. But once it is experienced, you can never go back to stale store bought beans again. Un-roasted green coffee beans can stay fresh for years. Once roasted, many experts recommend that coffee stays freshest for only days or weeks. Once ground, coffee stays fresh for only minutes. By the time most commercially available coffee reaches your home, it is months after it was roasted. The Gene Cafe roaster will be cherished by a true coffee lover. For a novice roaster, the Gene Cafe is easy as can be. For the advanced home roaster, the Gene Cafe give you control to perfect the roast profile. Either way, the coffee you roast will be unbelievable compared to common coffee beans.
How it works:
The Gene roaster has a Pyrex glass roast chamber that sits on an angle instead of horizontal. The off axis rotation mixes the beans thoroughly and heats evenly as the convection and indirect heat roast the beans. The patented design creates 3-D mixing – the first in the world to do so. The heating system is a cross between at typical drum roaster and a hot air roaster. This means the roaster can produce a full bodied roast that preserves the character of the bean or the “brightness”. The roaster can also roast up to 8 ounces of coffee per batch. The 8 oz finished roast size is one of the largest in the industry. Don’t want to roast a full batch? No problem. The Gene roaster is unique. It can roast anywhere from 50 to 300 g of green beans. The two knobs on the front of the roaster make this possible by allowing the user to adjust both time and temperature of the roast. This control not only allows different roast sizes, but also allows the tinkering type to have fun trying different roast profiles, resulting in flavor differences. Don’t want to tinker? No problem – follow the simple instructions for easy great results. Monitoring progress is easy with the see through Pyrex glass chamber and hearing the “cracks” during roasting that indicate the darkness of a roast is also easy since this roaster is one of the quietest at only 65 db.
